I started looking into what my husband and I can do for Valentine's Day and have discovered that I waited until the last minute, again. I can't believe that some of these places start booking the year prior. I was looking into three places.
The first in Estes Park, Colorado. It is so beautiful up there this time of year and even though I have been there several times, I still enjoy the area. There is this Mountain Chateau, Della Terra, and I have wanted to try it for awhile. I decided to go ahead and make reservations for my romantic get away. The only problem is that they are all booked up. What a shocker. Well, there went that idea.
The next place I was thinking of was Glenwood Springs, Colorado. There are so many wonderful places in Colorado to visit. So I went to the Glenwood Springs Hotel website and well, they are booked. Shocker again.
Now don't get me wrong, there are other hotels and B&B's to stay in these areas but these particular places were special and offered amenities that I really wanted. So I decided to fore go the two top choices that I had and take a look at option three.
Viva Las Vegas!
That's right everyone I am thinking of going to the strip. I even contacted my cousin, a well known Vegas junkie, to see where the best place is to stay. Of course with a place like Vegas, there are always hotel rooms and things to do. With that said, it comes with a steep price, at least what I want comes with a steep price. I want to go to Paris, city of romance. Since I don't have ten grand in the bank at the moment I will have to settle for an elaborate knock off like the Paris Hotel in Vegas. Yet, I have hit a snag again.
Gee this is getting more and more fun by the minute. Valentine's day is on a Thursday this year and the "packages" don't go past that...in most hotels. So now I have to pay full price (and believe me their "deal packages" were a deal in comparison) and that is also expensive. So, I wonder...should I just stay home with the hubby, go to a wonderful five star restaurant in Denver or Boulder and come home for a little post-dinner nookie or do I shell out the cash (and come home broke but lucky) and set off to sin city?
In the grand scheme of things...is Valentine's Day about the money (and candle light and chocolates, let's not forget about the chocolates) or is this really a day to just spend time with the object of your affection?
I know the answer but what do you think?
Until next time or until I make a decision...
