Fire alarms and fish

Don't you just hate it when your smoke alarm battery is running low and you get that annoying chirping sound? Try that crap at 2:45 in the freakin' morning! Aaahhhh!!! That happened the other day. So I asked my wonderful hubby to change the battery. I had moved to the sofa that night cause I could not take the noise. My sofa is big and fluffy and hurts like hell to sleep on. Oh and I'm a tosser when I sleep. Try that on a sofa. Hello floor.  So, the next night I went to bed excited to get some sleep in own bedroom. Then 2:30am CHIRP! WTF! Now, I love my hubby but I yanked him out a deep sleep to ask if he did indeed change the battery. He told me that he ran out of time to do it and forgot. Dammit. There I went again with my pillows and a blanket to the sofa. Another awful night of sleep. He did change the battery the next day since I nagged him until he couldn't take it anymore. Finally I was able to get some sleep in my own bed and stopped being so grouchy.

Everyone was happy again.

Today I went the doctor and in the waiting room was a large aquarium with only three fish. One clown fish, one puffer fish and one yellow skinny fish (I am not sure what it is really called). While I was there a lady came in to feed the fish but the shrimp was still frozen so she placed the bag on the side and walked out. I was watching the fish and noticed that the puffer fish seemed to recognize the lady and get excited. This was demonstrated by his little fins moving faster and I swear to Goddess that the fish even seemed to understand that it was feeding time. The fish looked excited. When the woman walked away the puffer fish followed her to the edge of the aquarium and waited. I was amazed. Now I know nothing of fish or fish behavior but this was the coolest thing I have ever seen. It seemed like this fish was intelligent and had visual recognition of people. I know that there are intelligent fish but I didn't know that they were puffer fish. Wow...do I feel stupid or what? Actually I don't. I mean I am not a fish expert or even interested in fish but I will say that I will be doing some more research on the puffer fish. Who knows this might be a new path to walk...fish are friends not food...well some are food. Now that you have experienced my random thoughts for the day I will let you go.

Until next time...

Isn't this over yet?!

Sometimes I just want to scream! It feels like the last 2 and half years have just taken a crap on me and my family and there seems no end in sight.  Oh let's recap shall we... 2016 was my son's first open heart surgery followed by a plethora of doctor's appointments and other surgeries. I thought it was over by the end of the year and took the advice of Whitney Houston and friends when I exhaled. However, my fun filled days were not over yet and I found myself dumbfounded by the turn of events in my life.  2017 started out fine...well not really. January brought us the bad news that our black Lab Molly Mae had cancer. It was in her bones and basically there was nothing to do but love her.  So, that's what we did. We took her home and loved her. Then, in April we were informed that my son needed to have another open heart surgery because the tissue valve that they put in was not performing the way that they thought that it would and now needed ...

Day 6 Shake Day

This is day six and although there wasn't anything really eventful about the day there are updates to be shared. My husband and I have noticed that we are sleeping better and waking up with fewer aches and pains and issues. Now, we are not sure if that's because of the weight loss or the cleansing that we are going through. Also, I have noticed that while studying for my LSAT I have more focus and ability to analyze better. My exercise stamina is better. I did workout again at the gym but I am winding down. I am only doing 45 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes walking. No extra bike ride tonight. All in all, we are getting used to the program and feel that we have benefited from it. We are also going to continue try to reach our respective goal weight. Our next purchase will be the 30 program which we will share. Since it cost $200+ each we are trying save money by just splitting it. I will keep you posted and on Tuesday of next week (August 16th) I will post our 9 day pr...

3 day nail check in

It had been three days since I have removed my nails and coated them with Sally Hansen's Hard as Wraps nail covering. Now the directions say to take off the polish after three days and restart the process all over again with two (2) new coats. When they say that you need to remove the polish after three days and start over, they mean it. Here is what happens on the third day, prompting you to remove the polish. My nails with the initial tear on the polish. The polish starts to lift and tear off. It started with a small uplift on the side of my nails and I pulled off the rest. Surprisingly, the whole thing came off without having to use nail polish remover. The problem with that, though, is that my nails underneath are still very thin and weak.  In this picture the nail is bent. It's a little hard to see it but I am bending my nail. The weak condition of my nails has continued and I see no real change to them . The next picture is of  the top of my nail, showing the te...
